Dofollow

“Dofollow” is industry shorthand, not an HTML attribute. A standard hyperlink without rel values such as nofollow, sponsored, or ugc is generally treated as eligible to pass endorsement signals. Publishers and SEOs still say dofollow when they mean an ordinary editorial link.

In Spanish digital media, honest commercial pieces may still use sponsored rel values. That does not automatically make the placement worthless. Users click, brand lift happens, and mixed attributes across a campaign look more natural than a portfolio of only pristine dofollow inserts.

When negotiating with publishers, ask clearly what attributes will appear and where the link sits. In-body editorial links matter more than the label alone. Footer sitewides advertised as dofollow are usually poor quality regardless of attributes.

QA every live URL. Some CMS plugins rewrite rel values after publication. Log the final HTML snippet. For white-label programs, include attribute capture in the monthly deliverable so agencies can explain the mix to clients without improvising.

Remember that Google has said it treats many rel values as hints. Still, fabricating only dofollow networks is a known spam pattern. Build campaigns that resemble how real Mexican and LatAm publishers link.
