Domain Authority

Domain Authority (DA) is Moz’s predictive score for relative ranking potential based on link data and machine learning. Like other third-party scores, DA helps compare domains inside a spreadsheet. It should not replace SERP research on the Google property your market actually uses.

DA and Domain Rating often disagree because they use different graphs and models. Do not panic when a Mexican newsroom shows uneven scores across tools. Read the site, check indexation, and review whether Spanish audiences engage with the content.

For outreach prioritization, use DA bands to sort large lists, then apply human filters: editorial standards, advertising density, and topical overlap with your page. A tourism guide with moderate DA can be perfect for a Cancún landing page even if a generic tech blog scores higher.

Avoid buying links solely to raise DA. Artificial inflation does not equal sustainable organic growth. Focus on referring domains that searchers and journalists recognize. When clients ask for DA guarantees, reframe the KPI toward qualified traffic, brand search, and rankings on google.com.mx for Mexican intent.

Keep historical DA charts out of executive decks unless you explain the metric’s limits. Executives otherwise chase the line instead of the business outcome.
